Food at Thanksgiving

As each year comes around the Thanksgiving holiday, every gender of female, usually, goes out and grocery shops for all their belongings for the feast on that Thursday, for some time I have been thinking about when I will have my own Thanksgiving with my kids with my parents coming over and such, but it will not all be the same.

For the reason of when my mom was making the dressing, I told her she better pass down the recipe to me, but she told me that there was not a recipe. She learned how to make it because she was in the kitchen a lot with my Mimi and therefore now knows how to make it, and it has been passed on from generation to generation. My mom told me that which was her favorite thing to do around the holiday times was to help with dressing. But hence for, our generation now young teen female usually stay out of the kitchen and let everything be handed to them. But this will not help me in the future.

It is just so strange how our generations change from time to time, and how I am never going to be a great cook like my parents and grandparents, due to the fact of how I never spend time in the kitchen unlike how they did when they were younger.

Traditional Literacy or Digital Literacy

Should educators embrace new means of literacy, such as digital? Why or why not?

Educators to some extinct should embrace the new literacy as digital. It is good to let young adults know and expand their knowledge on the online reading we have now, most of them do not know how to access any of it. In order for educators to embrace and extend their knowledge of where to go online and how to look everything up will be very helpful.
But, I still think that Educators need to keep using some books, so our society does not get away from the meaningfulness of literature books. For example, when I was in high school, our literature book was of course a freaking monster in size, but when we read a short poem or we had a story to read, there was a picture somewhere near it and it had a meaning behind it. A meaning whereas, readers online might not get the same outcome if the picture was not there.
And yes, you may say that they can add the picture online, but how are you supposed to let the teacher talk about it? Unless, the whole class is in the computer lab on the internet, of course, we all know computer labs are always occupied, so in reality this will not always occur.

Cell Phones In Modern Society

What would the world do without cell phones? It would all be a totally different world, if so. I remember this week, one of my Professors, Dr. Webster stated that he, himself that he does not have a cell phone, and he told out class that he does not think he needs one. If someone needed to contact him, it will either be by the house phone, his office phone, or by email, to him he sees cell phones not a necessity right not. But, he did state that if it came down to him getting one he would. Everyone in the class, gasped when he stated that. We all couldn't believe that he didn't have a cell phone because to us, it is a normal thing for anybody who is in their teens to have one.

Cell phones do have a positive approach on our society, whether you are in a wreck and need someone to call or maybe like in the Boost mobile commercial you have given birth and want the world to know. I keep my handy all the time, due to the fact I am dating someone and want to text him all day and night. But not in the sense of where you use the phone over what is really important in our society, family and the ones we love.

Does it seem crazy to you Dr. Webster doesn't have a phone, or is it because (if you knew him) he is old, and no old people know how cell phones work?

Wondering Why So Many History Classes?

On October 31, 2010 was the opening date to register for spring 2011, for early registration. I am the type of person who likes to get task done early so I will not have to deal with it later on and be worried and stressed over it. I was looking up of what I had to finish and complete to transfer my hours over to UT Tyler, so I am could become a Nurse, with my BSN. I looked and saw I had to have twelve hours of History. I am definitely not a History nor an English person by far, and I to see that there was more required hours to take History over there are Math course was bizarre. Don't Math teachers usually say you will always use Math here on out, but History teachers do not. I just think that all the History should be a choice and come to be elective not core classes someone has to take, and will bring down there GPA because someone dreads the fact of our History.
Some people do say that you have to know History of our Country and so on, but do you really? It does not matter if I know the First World War, dates should not matter. Nothing in History is going to benefit me in the future, but if I am wrong in this conclusion, please state so.
